Our mission is to empower women of color affected by breast cancer to make the rest of their lives the best of their lives through education, advocacy and community.

Thriving at Five: Celebrating a Milestone with For the Breast of Us

Can you believe it’s been five whole years? Five years of growth, strength, and community. Yes, Baddies, For the Breast of Us is turning five, and it’s not just a celebration of the years we’ve been in service to all women of color but a celebration of Advocating, Educating, and Empowerment. “Thriving at Five” isn’t just a theme; it’s our reality and our commitment as we continue to support our Black and Brown Women impacted by breast cancer. So this is a celebration! Celebrating all of the ways we’ve been there for you. Connecting Baddies with vital resources, shared powerful stories, and offered a safe space to share your journey, no matter where you’re at.

Why Year Five is a Big Deal

In the breast cancer world, hitting the five-year mark is monumental. Statistically, reaching five years with “no evidence of disease” is a significant milestone that dramatically improves the long-term prognosis for many women. This milestone resonates deeply with our mission at For the Breast of Us, as we help Women of Color not only survive but thrive as they navigate survivorship from diagnosis and beyond.

Reflecting on our Journey

From the very first day, our mission has been to create a space where women of color can find support, resources, and a community that looks and feels like family. We’ve cried together, laughed together, and fought together. Every story shared, every hug exchanged, and every resource provided has woven a beautiful tapestry of sisterhood and strength.

Looking Ahead

As we step into our next chapter, our focus remains steadfast on Advocacy, Community and Education. More programs, more resources, and more outreach mean we can touch even more lives. We’re committed to not just surviving but thriving, and we want every Baddie walking this journey to feel equipped, seen, and celebrated.

But guess what? We’re not done yet! We’re always lookin’ for ways to do more, to be the baddest Baddie Advocates we can be. That’s why we’re extra excited to announce some brand new initiatives to get you even more involved:

  • The Baddie Beauty Collective: Because lookin’ good and feelin’ good go hand in hand, especially when you’re goin’ through somethin’ tough. This collective is all about connecting you with beauty tips, tutorials, and even pamper sessions designed by women of color, for women of color.
  • Baddie Volunteers: You know the saying, “it takes a village”? Well, FTBOU is your village, and we’re looking for strong, passionate women of color to join our volunteer squad. Lend a hand, share your wisdom, and be a source of support for your sisters. To learn more: send an email to hello@breastofus.com
  • We Still Want Your Stories! Hey, storytellers! We’re always looking for powerful voices to grace our platform. Share your experiences, big or small, to inspire and uplift other women of color on their journeys. You can easily submit your story here.

We can’t do this work alone! We need our Supporters to help spread the word. We invite you to engage, share the stories on breastofus.com from Women of Color with others and/or make a donation so we can continue to provide free events for Black and Brown Women impacted by breast cancer across the country to participate in. Every share, every conversation, and every donation helps us reach another sister who might be feeling alone.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being a part of an amazing journey. Here’s to “Thriving At Five” and to many more years of making a difference together.
