Finding My Voice and My Purpose
My advocacy is a way to honor my journey while helping others navigate their own.
My advocacy is a way to honor my journey while helping others navigate their own.
I called my mom, and for the first time, I admitted how overwhelmed and isolated I felt. While my oncologist mentioned some side effects, no one fully prepared me for what menopause at such a young age would entail.
Muchos pensamientos cruzaron por mi mente cuando me diagnosticaron con cáncer de mama, tales como “Me voy a enfermar mucho y tengo miedo de no ser una buena madre como lo fui antes”.

Bri candidly shares her journey dealing with her mother’s misdiagnosis and the inequities that POC face in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. She highlights the need for inclusivity and representation in the community and emphasizes the importance of recognizing systemic inequities.
To me, being a survivor means living my best life, not taking things for granted, and being present in the moment.
If I had sought out support, I would have been better informed about my options, about what to ask the oncologist, about what would help me during treatment. I wouldn’t have felt so ignorant. I wouldn’t have been alone with this new normal.
I believe that there has to be an energetic change at a fundamental level or our bodies will find their way back to the same loop that created the cancer to begin with.
Living flat wasn’t a choice I thought about when I was diagnosed with cancer. Now I know that it wasn’t only a choice, but it was the right choice for me.
There is a level of comfort and familiarity to having a doctor who can not only speak your language but understands your culture.
