Our mission is to empower women of color affected by breast cancer to make the rest of their lives the best of their lives through education, advocacy and community.

Finding My Voice and My Purpose

In June 2023, at just 31 years old, I received the life-altering diagnosis of stage 2 triple-negative breast cancer. As a young Latina, the lack of representation and resources in the breast cancer community added layers of isolation to an already daunting journey. But rather than allowing fear to consume me, I found my voice and committed to creating change—not only for myself but for the countless other women like me who often go unseen.

The path to healing was overwhelming, from fertility preservation to months of chemotherapy and eventually a double mastectomy. In searching for support, I discovered the gaps in resources tailored to younger women and women of color. This experience opened my eyes to the pressing need for better healthcare systems, early detection, and self-advocacy that addresses the unique needs of all women, regardless of age or ethnicity.

A pivotal moment in my journey was becoming a Legislative Ambassador for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN). As an advocate, I work to ensure that cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers receive the support they deserve. Meeting with lawmakers and sharing my personal experience has allowed me to turn my pain into purpose, advocating for equitable healthcare access and increased cancer research funding.

My advocacy is a way to honor my journey while helping others navigate their own. To anyone reading this: never underestimate the power of sharing your story. Whether you’re a patient, survivor, or caregiver, your voice has the power to inspire real change.
