Hello Baddies! At the request of my Baddie Breasties, I am back to share a simplified everyday makeup routine. Let’s get started:
IT STARTS WITH SKIN
By now you may have seen the tutorial where I demoed proportion and application for a quick baddie makeup look! As I demonstrated in the video, I begin with skincare. Skincare is a part of your beauty routine, whether you wear makeup or not.
The simplest daytime routine is to wash your face and moisturize with products most appropriate for your skin type. A performance ingredient to shop in a cleanser is one that has polyhydroxy acids (PHAs). For us, this the gentlest formula to cleanse and exfoliate the skin for a smoother and brighter appearance, without stripping it of its natural moisture.
When searching for a moisturizer, look for key terms such as hyaluronic acid or products that advertise “hydrating”. A part of moisturizing is also applying an eye cream. The eye cream below has vitamin C and caffeine to diminish dark circles and de-puff under the eye. While this may seem like an option for some, I also encourage every baddie to use SPF to protect that gorgeous skin and minimize development of skin cancer. Biossance is new on the market! It’s natural, odorless and brown girl friendly!
Overall, skin care ensures naturally beautiful and radiant skin. It also promotes a longer and flawless wear for your makeup.
Here are some of my skincare products: Ole Henrisken Truth Juice , FARMACY Cheer Up Eye Cream , and Caudalie Vinosource Sorbet Moisturizer. Another favorite of mine is MILK Makeup Vegan Milk Moisturizer.
MAKEUP ESSENTIALS
Whether you are wearing liquid or powder foundation, it is a crime not to prime. For this step you will need to know what your skin type is to ensure you are buying the appropriate primer for your concerns. If you are oily, you may want a mattifying primer. If you are experiencing dryness, you may choose a normal or hydrating primer formula. Makeup primer provides a longer, fresh looking wear all day.
The best brushes to use for makeup application are synthetic brushes since they can be used for either liquid or powder formulas. Most times they are soft and not made of any animal hairs. In the video, I demoed a liquid foundation from Cover FX because their products are vegan. They also do not contain irritating ingredients such as fragrance, talc, or parabens. I like to use a full flexible domed brush to buff the foundation into my skin.
A great technique to alleviate signs of fatigue under the eyes is with a concealer one to two shades lighter than your natural complexion. Apply product near the inner corner of the eye as demonstrated in the video, and then blending outward. This gives a natural appearance of brighter eyes. *Tip For brightening with concealer (and those of you interested in contouring), purchase products that are multi-use. The Fenty Match StixTrio I demoed, has everything I need to highlight and contour. Cream face palettes also offer similar benefits when creating a baddie look on the whim!
For brows, you can use stencils from your local beauty supply store and different formulas for brow filling. Brow product formulas are available in powder, pencil, pomades or a mascara-like product that are specifically for brows as mentioned in the video. *Tip: you may use the concealer to create dimension, or foundation shade to simply neaten the brow shape. In the video I used my normal foundation shade because this is a natural makeup look.
To bring a radiant glow to the complexion, you can use a shimmer color close to your complexion. Be it from your eye shadow palette, or a product exclusively for highlighting. If you have a deep skin tone, like me, you will want to use a rich bronzy glow. For medium skin tones, a golden glow product, and for fair skin you will want to use a glow with a pearlesque shimmer. Focus the application on the highpoints of your face – bridge of nose and cheek bones, (chin and forehead are optional). Blush or highlight palettes offer a variety to mix and match, and versatility depending on your makeup look or even the season. *Tip layering your highlighter enhances that enchanting glow!
Now that our complexion is done, we can move to eyes and lips. I like to do these steps toward the end so the foundation or powder does not compromise this color intensity of brows or the eye definition with mascara and eyeliner. If your lashes are sparse, use a liquid liner as close to your lash line as possible. I recommend a felt tip for precision. Simply stamp slowly and steadily for neatness. If you desire, you can use normal black mascara also. For lips, a popping gloss will bring this instant baddie look together! *Tip lining the lips before applying gloss brings dimension and attention to the pout taking the baddie look up just a notch!
SET IT AND FORGET IT
Lastly, set your makeup with either a setting spray or powder. Sometimes, I like to do both depending on the weather or my activities for the day. I only use setting powder on my areas of concern where I get the most oily. If you have a dryer skin type, you can just use a setting spray! In the video I demonstrate how best to use the spray.
I know you got this, gorgeous! I hope you found the video informative and techniques effortless. The best way to shop for vegan, cruelty free products or products that don’t have harmful chemicals is to read the labels. Most beauty products proudly promote that they are clean and free of harmful ingredients! Beauty stores, like Sephora, have a clean beauty section and stamps throughout their store’s beauty selection verifying which brands don’t contain harmful ingredients.
Happy beautying, baddies!
