Many know that medical bills quickly stack up when undergoing treatment for breast cancer. From scans, to surgeries, to lab work, the cost of health care is insurmountable. Here are some resources that may be able to ease the financial burden:
- Cancer Financial Assistance Coalition – a group of national organizations that provide financial help to patients. https://www.cancerfac.org/
- CancerCare – provides limited financial assistance for co-pays, transportation, home care, and child care. They also provide sources for financial assistance, as well as a database of organizations who can provide financial help. https://www.cancercare.org/
- Family Reach – an organization dedicated to eliminating the financial barriers that accompany a cancer diagnosis. https://familyreach.org/ftp/
- Healthwell Foundation – an organization that helps patients with a chronic, life-altering disease afford their medications when health insurance is not enough. https://www.healthwellfoundation.org/
- The SamFund – a non-profit organization that provides grants, financial education, and resources to young adult cancer survivors. http://www.thesamfund.org/get-help/
Don’t forget to ask your cancer center for recourses, or check with your local American Cancer Society or United Way chapter for additional resources.
