Defying the odds: living with metastatic breast cancer

Being diagnosed with breast cancer at the young age of 26 was devastating and a complete shock. I underwent chemo, radiation, a mastectomy and severs reconstructive surgeries. Getting the all clear and moving beyond cancer, I was excited to begin the next chapter in my life.

Unfortunately, three years later, the cancer returned while I was pregnant and spread to my bones, which was only discovered after I fractured my spine. Since 2008, I’ve lived and thrived with stage IV metastatic breast cancer, which is also in my lungs at this point.

With only a one in five chance of surviving beyond five years, I’m so blessed to still be here thriving, 15 years after my initial diagnosis. It’s become my purpose to raise awareness and inspire others through my music and the telling of my story of hope and resiliency.
