Cancer-Free, now what? That’s the question many individuals ask themselves following treatment and proudly hearing the words, “You’re Cancer Free”!
For the first five years, my treatment plan consists of a six month check-up with my oncologist, yearly breast exams, bone density tests every two years, daily anti-cancer pill, and an EKG as seen fit.
Many survivors are left without a road map on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle during and after cancer treatment. I decided to take control of my health as soon as I received my diagnosis.
Although I couldn’t heal from cancer holistically after trying; I decided to take a holistic approach to healing via mind, body, and spirit. I prayed and spoke words of affirmations over my body daily, practiced meditation, and surrounded myself with positivity. I was very mindful in what I allowed to enter my spirit, physically and mentally.
I found excitement in learning about how our body responds to natural resources our Creator put on earth for us!
To build and maintain a strong immune system while undergoing treatment I took in herbs and spices such as: turmeric, wheatgrass, flaxseeds spirulina, various organic herbal teas and mushroom capsules. I also juiced 3-4 times a week. After being diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer, my doctors were amazed that I didn’t suffer from common side effects. They marveled at how gracefully I healed from radiation and surgery.
At the tender age of 34, cancer came into my life aggressively and unexpectedly. I took back control by developing a healthy lifestyle via health and fitness.
Although I’m four years cancer-free, the fight continues! Not only for myself but for the many other women who are currently in the fight. It is my life mission to ensure no one fights alone. This mission birthed “The Survivor’s Nest Inc.”, we empower survivors to take a holistic approach to healing. We have so many things coming at us. It’s so important that we keep a happy and healthy balance between the many variables in this world. We must be intentional about living a whole and balanced life. Living a balanced lifestyle (being mindful of sleep, nutrition, and exercise).
It is our mission to assist survivors with living a happy and fulfilling life during and after treatment. This holistic approach will complement their current treatment plan to promote overall wellness. The Survivor’s Nest helps relieve stress for patients facing an immediate financial need as a direct, or indirect result of their breast cancer treatment.

I found my own lump at age of 45 diagnosed with stage 2 DCIS and IDC had a lumpectomy followed by aggressive chemo and radiation. I wrote a book about my journey and working on book #2. The daily regimen of a chemo pill gets to me at times and I’m still under oncologist care and getting Lupron shots
