Meet Shoni Brown
I have been a health and physical educator for 16 years. I found a lump in my left breast after coming home from a run in September 2015 at the age of 35. It took me until November 4 to be diagnosed and until January of 2016 to have my a mastectomy of my left breast. I was diagnosed with stage 2b invasive ductal carcinoma ER/PR+ and Her2- with lymph node involvement. I also had DCIS that was ER/PR+. I developed lymphedema Immediately after surgery.
I am very passionate about educating others about health and fitness, lymphedema and being your own advocate. I just want women to not let cancer stop them. At the age of 40, I did something I never thought I could do after cancer and the limitations it put on my body. I went rock climbing and hiking in the Adirondack Mountains and I've never felt so free.
