Meet Shangrong Lee
At 43, in the Summer of 2017, Shangrong was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma ER/PR+ HER2- Stage IIB. She had a single mastectomy of her left breast and 5 lymph nodes removed. With an Oncotype Test Score of 24, she decided to forego chemotherapy and instead had radiation, a DIEP Flap reconstruction and will be on Tamoxifen for the next five years. She never thought she would be the 1 out of 8. “Breast Cancer taught me that I must put on my oxygen mask first to take care of my family. That means prioritizing my self-care and fitness goals to be the best version of myself one day at a time.” Running was her lifeline during active treatment, in survivorship, and during times of depression.
Her journey has been a blessing in helping embrace her experience into a purpose greater than herself. “I tell my story to learn, advocate, inspire/aspire, and connect with other women. I am here cheering you on your breast cancer journey to be the best version of yourself through self-care, fitness, and making art.”
